The decision by Olympic organisers to remove Taiwan's national flag from a London display at the request of China has "hurt the feelings" of the people of Taiwan, President Ma Ying-jeou said Monday. The flag was removed from a row hanging over Regent Street, one of London's busiest shopping areas, and replaced last week with that of Taiwan's Olympic committee. Games organisers LOCOG said they had advised the Regent Street Association, which represents retailers and is in charge of the display, to remove the Taiwan flag after a complaint from the Chinese embassy. Ma, who has pursued warmer relations with Beijing since coming to power in 2008, denounced the Chinese move as "unwise" and said politics should not interfere with sports. "The removal of the national flag has... hurt the feelings of Taiwan's people," presidential spokesman Fan Chiang Tai-chi quoted Ma as saying during a press conference. 7 dead, 12 injured in truck, pick-up crash in Qinghai SEVEN people died and 12 others were injured when a heavy truck collided with a pick-up truck head-on early today in northwest China's Qinghai province. The accident happened at 4 am when the two vehicles crashed near Da Qaidam township, Haixi Mongol-Tibetan autonomous prefecture, on National Highway No. 315 which runs from the provincial capital Xining to Kashgar of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, according to a traffic police officer under the provincial public security department. When the accident happened, four people were in the cab of the large truck and the pick-up was carrying 18 people, with five in the crew cab and 13 others on the truck bed, said the police officer. Seven people died at the scene, and the 12 seriously injured people were rushed to hospital, he said. Further information was not known yet, and the cause of the accident is under investigation. Hackers at an infamous Def Con gathering on Sunday were shown how to easily slip into computer networks through some routers made by Chinese electronics colossus Huawei Technologies. "For the 20th anniversary of Def Con the gift his China," Recurity Labs chief Felix "FX" Lindner said as he opened his presentation. "Nobody needs a back door; this is plausible deniability," he quipped as he detailed weaknesses in three small Huawei routers that could be exploited using basic hacking techniques.
