Li Yanhong: Abolish Wi-Fi authentication

As a new member of the CPPCC National Committee, Baidu.com CEO Li Yanhong has issued a proposal on the abolition of Wi-Fi personal identity authentication.

Wireless network service in public places is becoming increasingly popular. However, some regions require non-commercial Internet service sites to establish Internet security protection technology measures and mechanisms. In this scenario, users must retain their privacy information and in the process lose a lot of time.

Here follows Li's advice on the matter:

For starters, reduce the use of a threshold. Cancel public wireless internet access that requires registering your ID and cell phone number in order to create a relaxed environment for the development of Internet in China. Allow for users to enjoy high-quality and convenient network service.

Secondly then follows the optimization of management means. Get online by means of using a so-called "exclusive identity," for example by using an email address or account number as public wireless network access registration information. This way, the user will no longer be required to obtain an authorization code every time he or she wants to go online.

The abovementioned measures can help solve the problems of having both to repeat Internet access registration and help the user conveniently access and use the network.

The First Session of the 12th CPPCC started on Sunday, March 3, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The CPPCC National Committee consists of 2237 members, 48.3% of which have been newly nominated for CPPCC National Committee membership. They represent the latest young talent from all walks of life.
