Should Xiaohai keep her promise and be his girlfriend?

Yesterday, Xiaohai, the Hunan TV host of Travel Channel, sent a micro blog on Sina Weibo that makes people gag.

She said: 11 years ago, a little fella who was in Grade 1 in Junior middle school(about 13 years old)wrote me a letter asking me if I could become his girlfriend. I found him so cute that I replied, "Alright, but wait until you graduate from Tsinghua or Peking University and make your first 1 million, then you can find me."

Yesterday(11 years later), Xiaohai received a call from that "boy", saying ,"I made it—"

The bad thing is Xiaohai has got a boyfriend.

What to do?

Should she keep her promise?

Comments from netizens:

Ratfink: I don't think she should keep her promise, after all it was made 11 years ago when she was a child. Bravo to the lad for making it though and for having the determination to send her a message.

At at least one point in life most everyone is promised something by someone that never eventuates, it's part of life and the way life is. Circumstances and people change over time so holding a person to a promise made when 13 is a waste of energy and time.

Rearwindow: What do you think of the way how she motivated the boy?

A girlfriend= Tsinghua/Peking certificate + 1 million RMB ?

And it seems the motivation has paid off.

I'm wondering how he managed to make that much by the ago of 24

Also, I doubt if the "boy" likes her as much as he did 11 years ago

hardluck2008: it adds more spices into our insipid meals…

thanks this ambitious & persistent boy

robert237: He's probably just doing this as a joke on her.
Now he is in the driver's seat.
