3. 副区长受贿千万 fùqūzhǎng shòuhuì qiān wàn – Yesterday, the deputy director of Yuanputuo District was sentenced to death with two years reprieve for taking more than 15 million in bribes. Here's the story in Chinese. 

4. 砸atm机找自尊 zá atm jī zhǎo zìzūn – A man in his early 30s trashed a total of 5 ATM machines over the span of one month with a hammer to vent his anger from being bullied at work (see photo). After his arrest earlier last week, the man confessed to the authorities that he vandalized the ATM machines instead of confronting his colleagues because he was too afraid of being beaten up. 5. 雀巢亨氏致癌物 quècháo hēngshì zhìáiwù – UK's Food Standards Agency sent out an announcement yesterday about the rise in the carcinogen acrylic amide contained in popular consumer foods produced by companies such as Heinz and Nestle. 7. 郑州倾倒胶囊 Zhèngzhōu qīngdào jiāonáng – Massive amounts of empty medicinal capsules have been discovered in ditches in Zhengzhou and on the hillsides of Xi'an recently, leading many to think that those guilty of producing "poisonous capsules" are desperately trying to get rid of evidence. 8. 河南眼花法官 Hénán yǎnhuā fǎguān – A judge from the People's Court of Henan Xia County has been arrested for his lack of judgment on a traffic accident case. As a result of his misjudgment, the victims of the fatal car accident have yet to receive proper compensensation, while the culprit responsible for killing 3 and injuring 2 got off with only 2 years of jail sentence. 9. 谢亚龙受审 Ziè Yàlóng shòushěn – Former Vice Chairman of Chinese Soccer Association Xie Yalong attended his court hearing today. He was charged with 12 offenses, mostly involving bribery. 10. 比干 Bǐ Gān – Hundreds of middle school students in Hebei were required to stand out in the rain from 7AM-10AM on school grounds to commemorate the birthday celebration of Bi Gan, a famous Hebei government official who lived thousands of years ago. Many of the students' parents are expressing discontent with this arrangement, seeing the 3-hour "celebration" as an unfruitful waste of the students' precious lecture time.
